Katie earned her BSc (Hons) in Human Biology and Infectious Diseases with professional studies from the University of Salford, which included a placement year focused on researching phytomedicinal compounds and their chemotherapeutic potential against certain childhood cancers. After graduating, she worked briefly as a diagnostic analyst at a food testing company before joining the Cai lab in 2024. She hopes to provide technical support to the lab while gaining practical knowledge and skills in preparation for her PhD. Outside of her lab work, Katie enjoys cooking, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
