Open Positions

We are pleased to announce that the group has 15 new positions available, with start dates as early as April. Given the short timeline and immediate project needs, we are prioritizing candidates who can start quickly, particularly recent PhD graduates and postdocs whose current contracts are ending soon.

Some of these positions are initially for three years, and we are looking for talented individuals to join us in the following roles:

  • 2 Research Fellows (equivalent to a University Research Fellow): Fellows are encouraged to develop their own independent research while contributing to major projects in my lab.
  • 1 Programme Manager (Grade 7): Responsible for overseeing a major new research initiative and assisting with the planning and management of other projects within the lab.
  • 9 Postdoctoral Researchers: We are seeking expertise in a diverse range of areas, including but not limited to:
    • Computational biology
    • Yeast genetics
    • Plant biology
    • Mammalian biology
    • Large DNA assembly and delivery
    • Chromosome biology
    • Genomics
    • Lab automation
  • 1 Bicentenary PhD Studentship: PhD project entitled “Generative AI approaches for synthetic phage genome engineer”, as part of the university’s Faculty of Science and Engineering Bicentenary PhD programme. Applications accepted all year round until the position is filled. Focused on developing generative AI approaches for engineering phage therapies.
  • 1 PhD project entitled “Engineering modular human artificial chromosomes”, joint with Dr. Chew Wei Leong of A*STAR (Singapore). Deadline is 21 March 2025, with an expected start of October 2025.
  • 1 Lab Technician: Supporting general lab operations and experimental work.
